DENVER—Third rank Metropolitan State University of Denver fought and won 76-68 over on Saturday night at the Auraria Event Center. Roadrunners improved their record to 4-0 overall, while Langston fell to 2-2.

Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) had 19 points while providing a spark from the free throw line shooting 7-of-9. Freshman Bounama Keita (Saint-Louis, Senegal/Impact Basketball Academy (Fla.)) was Kenneth Faried like off the bench added 17 points and six rebounds, while shooting 8-of-10 from the floor. Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) providing a Randy Foye type performance contributing 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.

MSU Denver outrebounded Langston 34-to-27 and shot 56 percent in the game. In the middle of the first half MSU Denver went on 15-2 run like they were the nuggets and lead by 13 points over Langston. The Lions fought and cut the halftime lead to 35-30. Metro Nick Kay led the team with 11 points at halftime. Curtis Jones led Langston with 19 points.

The Roadrunners didn’t take the foot of the gas pedal after halftime, as they pushed their lead up to 12 points. Just like the Nuggets, the Lions didn’t give up as they brought Metro’s lead down to five points with 6:38 to go in the game. MSU Denver quickly responded and brought its lead back to 11 points with under three minutes to go.

Metropolitan State University of Denver eventually won 76-68 over Langston University (Okla.) to keep undefeated season going. The Roadrunners next travel to Lakeland, Florida to play Armstrong state (Ga.) Friday and Saturday against Florida Southern.
